The Bathinda district administration on Wednesday night gave ₹8 lakh compensation every to the households of 5 activists of the Bhartiya Kisan Union (BKU Ekta-Ugrahan) who died in a highway mishap on January 4.

The union was demanding ₹10 lakh every as compensation, a mortgage waiver for the affected households and a authorities job for one member of the deceased’s households.

The deceased belonged to Kotha Guru village in Bathinda and the union had refused to cremate our bodies till their calls for have been met.

The union had been staging a protest exterior the district administrative complicated (DAC) in help of the calls for since January 6.

The state authorities had reportedly provided a sum of ₹5 lakh that was declined by the union. Nonetheless, the protesters agreed to the compensation of ₹8 lakh after a gathering with the district officers and so they ended the dharna.
