Police arrested Raju Kulkarni, 54, for defrauding 21 aged residents by swapping ATM playing cards and stealing ₹13.9 lakh.
The police have arrested a suspect for defrauding aged residents by changing their ATM playing cards and withdrawing cash from their accounts, stated police on Tuesday.

Vishrambaug Police Station on February 2 filed a case of a senior citizen duped by an individual of ₹22,000 at an ATM centre in Ganjave Chowk in Navi Peth. Based mostly on CCTV footages analysed by police employees Mayur Bhosale and Ashish Kharat, the suspect was recognized and arrested.
A police workforce visited the suspect’s hometown and recovered 166 ATM playing cards of various banks.
Vijaymala Pawar, senior inspector, Vishrambaug Police Station, stated, “The accused with sleight of hand exchanged ATM cards, duping victims and gaining access to their account. Later, he used to withdraw money by using the victims’ cards at other ATM machines.”
The accused had duped no less than 21 senior residents and 16 instances have been filed in opposition to him at Vishrambaug, Sinhagad Highway, Vishrantwadi, Alandi, Bhosari, Sahakarnagar, Bibwewadi, Lakshar, Bharati Vidyapeeth and Shivajinagar police stations, she stated.
Based on Pawar, the accused claimed to not perceive Marathi language and a translator was referred to as to help in interrogation. Police seized valuables value ₹13,90,700 from his possession.
