Two fraudsters posing as cops dupe a 60-year-old citizen of gold ornaments value ₹75,000 underneath the pretense of checking valuables for security.

The incident was reported on Lohegaon-Wagholi Highway in entrance of Indian Oil petrol pump, Santnagar between 9.55am and 10.15am on Monday.

In response to the police, the senior citizen from Lohegaon was using a bike when the 2 males stopped him, claiming to be cops. They warned him about rising theft instances within the space and suggested him to take away his gold ornaments for safekeeping in his bike dicky. Underneath the pretense of wrapping the property securely, the fraudsters skillfully stole the ornaments value ₹75,000 and fled.

The complainant later approached the police.

In one other incident, a 64-year-old girl gave away gold jewelry value ₹1.60 lakh to a few unidentified accused close to a footpath in entrance of Shubh Gateway Society.

In response to the police, the trio approached the aged, who was strolling, and citing latest chain-snatching incidents advised her to maintain valuables in a bag. When the sufferer eliminated valuables, the accused snatched it and fled.
