GUWAHATI: Union minister Ashwini Vaishnaw on Tuesday introduced a slew of recent tasks in Assam together with a second semiconductor hub, a sophisticated electronics manufacturing hub, and a state-of-the-art IT hub.

The minister of railways, info & broadcasting, and electronics & info know-how was addressing a session on the two-day Benefit Assam 2.0 infrastructure and funding summit in Guwahati.

The northeastern state already has a semiconductor facility in Jagiroad which is being arrange by the Tata Group at Jagiroad at an funding of round ₹27,000 crores that would offer employment to round 27,000 individuals. It’s set to begin manufacturing in 2025.

Vaishnaw mentioned that one other new semiconductor hub within the state is being deliberate to advertise self-reliance in semiconductor manufacturing.

He introduced two new Amrit Bharat trains, six Gati Shakti cargo terminals to spice up logistics and commerce, upgradation of over 60 railway stations throughout, reworking Guwahati Railway Station right into a state-of-the-art IT hub, a brand new railway coach and restore manufacturing hub in Bodoland, a brand new railway locomotive engine manufacturing unit at Lumding.

“The gross budget allocation for railway infrastructure projects in northeast for 2025-26 is Rs. 10,440 crores. It is more than 5 times as compared to average budget allocation of Rs. 2,122 crores during 2009-14,” the minister mentioned.

In his speech through the session, chief minister Himanta Biswa Sarma mentioned that the state is laying the inspiration for cutting-edge know-how that may form industries, rework lives, and place Assam on the worldwide semiconductor map.

“The semiconductor facility being developed by Tata Electronics in Jagiroad, is set to commence production in 2025, with an impressive capacity to produce over 48 million chips daily using indigenous technologies, is poised to be a game-changer,” he mentioned.
