25 detained after protest in opposition to AAP authorities for failing to fulfil its promise of ₹1,000 a month grant to girls.
Congress activists, led by state get together president Amarinder Singh Raja Warring, held a protest outdoors the Punjab Pradesh Congress Committee workplace in Sector 15, Chandigarh, on Friday, accusing the Aam Aadmi Occasion (AAP) authorities of failing to fulfil its ballot promise of offering ₹1,000 a month to girls.

The Congress demanded that the federal government pay ₹36,000 in arrears to every girl for the previous three years and instantly begin the promised month-to-month funds.
The protest, which noticed a big gathering of Congress employees, together with girls, was met with heavy police deployment. As tensions escalated, Chandigarh Police detained 25 Congress employees. Water cannons had been used to disperse the protesters.
Warring criticised the Bhagwant Mann-led AAP authorities for “betraying the women of Punjab”. He vowed that the Congress would proceed to combat till the federal government fulfils its dedication.
“The AAP government has not only failed to deliver on its promises but has also ignored the plight of Punjab’s women. We demand that the government pay the pending amount immediately and ensure that women receive ₹1,100 per month going forward,” Warring mentioned.
