Unique species together with snakes, tortoises seized from Bhubaneswar airport

The unique animals have been allegedly being smuggled from Bangkok to Chennai by way of Bhubaneswar by a person named Shankar Murugan

Bhubaneswar: Customs officers at Biju Patnaik Worldwide Airport in Bhubaneswar on Saturday seized quite a lot of unique species, together with Californian king snakes, monitor lizards, chameleons and tortoises from a person who was on his solution to Chennai from Hong Kong.

The reptiles seized from the passenger included 9 Californian king snakes, 10 chameleons, 12 River Fly tortoises and three monitor lizards. (PTI)

Assistant Commissioner of Customs Ranjit Kumar Mohanty mentioned a person named Shankar Murugan from Chennai landed on the airport with a baggage that regarded suspicious. The animals have been allegedly being smuggled from Bangkok to Chennai by way of Bhubaneswar.

The Forest Division then took the rescued snakes, turtles and monitor lizards to Nandankanan Zoological Park.
