One man has been arrested for allegedly attacking two individuals with a machete after they refused to provide him fish on credit score at a market in Banderdewa alongside the Arunachal Pradesh-Assam border on Wednesday night.

Based on an FIR filed by the store proprietor, the accused, recognized as Phassang Niya (56), arrived at a fish store round 6:30pm and allegedly demanded 3 kg of fish free of charge.

When the shopkeepers refused, Niya took out a sharp-edged machete and allegedly attacked Arun Hazarika, the employee, and Utpal Das, the complainant and store proprietor, leaving Hazarika with grievous accidents on his brow and Das with wounds on his ribs.

Naharlagun superintendent of police, Mihin Gambo, informed HT that Niya was arrested shortly after the incident, and the victims are present process remedy on the Tomo Riba Institute of Well being and Medical Sciences in Naharlagun.
