Prohibitory orders have been imposed underneath Part 163 of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita ( BNS) to limit public motion within the space and safety personnel from Tripura State Rifles (TSR) and central armed drive have been deployed to carry the state of affairs underneath management.
Police mentioned that the protest rally was organised with out permission. The protesters have been requested to limit their rally in areas that fall underneath Irani police station and never at Kailasahar as it’s a combined habitation of each minority and non-minority inhabitants.
“As the rally reached Kubjhar, a barricade was deployed by the cops and security personnel. The protesters started pushing the cops to cross the barricade and started throwing stones, bottles, and shoes at the police who were present on the spot. As a result, five police and TSR personnel sustained injuries. The police fired tear gas and resorted to lathi charge after which the protesters escaped from there,” mentioned a senior police official on the situation of anonymity.
Unakoti district superintendent of police (SP) Sudhambika R and DIG (Northern Vary) Rati Ranjan Debnath rushed to the realm to evaluate the state of affairs.
