Amid the continued caste census debate, Karnataka Deputy Chief Minister DK Shivakumar on Sunday stated that communities had been attempting to guard their pursuits, and there was nothing incorrect with that.

Shivakumar was replying to a query on Veerashaiva Mahasabha forming an specialists’ committee to review the caste census.

“The Chief Minister has informed that a discussion would be allowed on the caste census in the Legislative Assembly. It is very transparent; what else can be done?”

Requested about his assertion earlier than the election backing the Vokkaliga group with respect to the caste census, he stated, “I am the President of the KPCC now; it is my responsibility to ensure justice for everyone.”

In the meantime, on Friday, in response to allegations by the Karnataka State Contractors Affiliation concerning growing interference by middlemen and halted funds in authorities departments, Karnataka Deputy Chief Minister DK Shivakumar acknowledged that some contractors had approached legislators of their constituencies to request the discharge of pending funds.

Clarifying the scenario on invoice funds, the Deputy Chief Minister stated that the federal government had been unable to clear solely about 10-15 per cent of the payments. He additionally criticised the earlier BJP authorities, claiming that in its tenure, pending payments had exceeded ₹1 lakh crore.
