UP: Govt shelter houses arising in 10 districts for girls is misery

Lucknow, To make sure the protection, empowerment and rehabilitation of ladies in misery, the Uttar Pradesh authorities is all set to operationalise shelter houses or “Shakti Sadan” throughout 10 districts of the state, officers stated on Friday.

These new centres being established beneath the “Mission Shakti” initiative ”are aimed toward offering safety and help to girls in misery, together with victims of home violence, pure disasters and different susceptible conditions, the federal government stated on Friday.

“The plan to operationalise these shelters is now in its final phase. The government has approved a fund of ₹127.72 lakh for the initiative. Each centre will have the capacity to accommodate 50 women and will serve as a secure refuge offering care and rehabilitation services,” the federal government stated in a press release.

“The shelters will be opened in Aligarh, Azamgarh, Kanpur Nagar, Chitrakoot, Jhansi, Basti, Gonda, Mirzapur, Varanasi and Saharanpur districts.

“The scheme is being carried out with help from the Central and state governments in a 60:40 funding ratio. It falls beneath the federal government of India’s ‘Samarthya’ sub-scheme of ‘Mission Shakti’,” the statement said.

The purpose of these shelter homes is not just to provide a safe place for women but also to guide them towards becoming self-reliant, it said.

Women staying at these centres will receive free accommodation, nutritious meals, clothes, bedding and other essential personal items, the government said in the statement.

“What makes this initiative particular is that the ladies may also get psychological, bodily and authorized help, together with vocational and skill-based coaching based mostly on their pursuits and talents.

“The training process will include sewing, knitting, embroidery, beauty parlour skills, computer literacy, yoga, and personal counselling. These services will help women become confident and independent, enabling them to live with dignity in the society,” the assertion stated.
