After a dispute arose between the caretaker of the home and a claimant a few days after Aitken’s loss of life, police on Saturday mentioned the property within the Bala Hisar space of Mussoorie was now within the possession of its actual proprietor.
When contacted, Mussoorie Police Station SHO Santosh Kunwar clarified that the home through which the journey author lived was not his personal and its proprietor had given it to him to dwell in.
The home belonged to the erstwhile queen of the Jind property Prithvi Bir Kaur, who had given a portion of it to Aitken to dwell in for all times, he mentioned.
In 2010, the Queen handed away however Aitken continued to dwell there. Now, after the writer’s loss of life, that a part of the home has come to the Queen’s nephew Pradeep Singh, he mentioned.
The queen had additionally constructed a home subsequent to the one the place Aitken lived for her servant Arvind Singh Chauhan the place he nonetheless lives together with his household, Kunwar mentioned.
On Chauhan’s allegations that Pradeep Singh had forcibly occupied that a part of the home after Aitken’s loss of life and had put a lock on it, the police officer mentioned he went to the spot and examined all of the paperwork which clearly confirmed that Pradeep Singh was the actual proprietor of the home.
“After the queen’s death, her property had been transferred to Pradeep Singh who is now its owner,” the police officer mentioned.
Pradeep Singh, 65, is a retired instructor and lives in Patiala, Punjab.
He mentioned he has been visiting the home typically since childhood.
