Sub-divisional Justice of the Peace Charanjot Singh Walia stated Bhinder had 18 votes whereas his rival from the Congress gained 9 votes. Sunam MLA and AAP state chief Aman Arora stated, “We won these elections with a clear majority. My sincere thanks to the people of Sangrur.” Bhinder stated, “Our focus will be on development.”

The Congress alleged foul play within the election of the vice-president. Surinder Singh Bhinder, a Congress councillor, stated, “The municipal act clearly states the vice-president should be from the Opposition. They forcefully appointed their own person on the post.”

Arora responded to the allegations stating the Congress merely didn’t have the numbers.

On the delay within the elections, the AAP cited administrative causes although the Opposition claimed they had been intentionally placing it off attributable to lack of majority.
