Cognizant to rent 20,000 freshers in 2025 amid AI push

US IT agency Cognizant, which has an enormous worker base in India, has introduced plans to rent 20,000 freshers in 2025 — a transfer meant to reshape the corporate’s expertise pyramid, significantly to help managed providers and AI-led software program improvement.

Whereas the corporate’s total headcount remained almost flat in comparison with earlier quarter at 3,36,300, Cognizant’s management highlighted the strategic significance of expertise amplification because the agency accelerates its development and innovation agenda.

“As we stated at our Investor Day, we are hiring 20,000 freshers as part of our strategy, which is more than double what we did last year,” Cognizant CEO Ravi Kumar S stated.

This 12 months, Kumar famous that the corporate plans to rent many extra contemporary graduates to construct a stronger workforce pyramid, particularly since managed providers initiatives have elevated over the previous two years.

“But it also comes equally with a overhead of carrying higher bench at a lower cost and actually offshore,” he stated.

He stated the corporate is specializing in three areas — hiring freshers, rising productiveness by AI, and enhancing utilisation to handle human capital prices successfully.

Cognizant shared that 14,000 former workers have rejoined the agency, with 10,000 extra in pipeline.

As you heard us talk about during the Investor Day, we are upskilling our workforce at scale, leveraging AI to meet demand faster and identifying talent pools to address new areas unlocked by AI,” Kumar stated.

The New Jersey-headquartered agency has reported 7.45 per cent year-on-year development in income to USD 5.1 billion for the January-March quarter of 2025.
