The refinery’s spokesperson recognized the deceased as Astar Ali, Sukhpal Singh, and Rajwinder Singh.
One other employee, Krishan Kumar, who fell unconscious whereas cleansing the STP, is beneath remedy on the All India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS), Bathinda.
The victims had been round 30 years.
Officers mentioned that 4 staff had been trapped contained in the STP after inhaling methane gasoline.
Rescue groups from the refinery had been pressed into service.
Talwandi Sabo sub-divisional Justice of the Peace (SDM) Pankaj Kumar mentioned that the employees had been suffocated as a consequence of methane gasoline generated in the course of the sewer-cleaning operation.
“The victims were outsourced by the refinery management through a private contractor. They were immediately rushed to a hospital in Bathinda in a critical condition,” he mentioned.
Police mentioned authorized motion is being taken within the matter.
