NAVI MUMBAI: Two males died after a dashing automotive hit their bike on Pen-Khopoli Street. The driving force fled; a case was registered for negligence and rash driving.

NAVI MUMBAI: Two males on a motorbike died on Thursday after an allegedly dashing automotive hit them alongside Pen-Khopoli Street early within the morning on Thursday. The accused driver fled and was booked for inflicting loss of life by negligence.

The deceased, Omkar Ashok Waghmare, 19, and Akash Sachin Pawar, 22, hailed from the identical village. On Thursday, they had been coming back from a pre-wedding ceremony. In response to the police, round 12.15am, a automotive from the wrong way crashed into their bike close to Lodge Yogiraj.

“The vehicle was being recklessly driven at an excessive speed with complete disregard for road safety. The right side of the car dashed the bike. There are also no speed breakers on this stretch, making it a frequent site for speeding,” stated an investigating officer.

The influence of the crash threw the victims off the bike. They suffered deadly head accidents and died on the spot. Barkaya Yashwant Hilam, 35, a passerby, alerted the police. The Pen police arrived and, at 4.45am, registered a case in opposition to the accused driver beneath sections 106(1) (inflicting loss of life by negligence) and 281 (rash driving) of the Bhartiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS), 2023, together with part 184 (harmful driving) of the Motor Autos Act, 1988.
