MUMBAI: The Dindoshi police have booked a building firm and two individuals for allegedly dishonest a building businessman of ₹5.97 crore by luring him into investing in a redevelopment mission in Malad East and promising him 11 flats. The case has been transferred to the Financial Offences Wing of the Mumbai police (EOW) for investigation.

The duped businessman, Vipul Narsi Bhavani, 46, a resident of Higher Govind Nagar, Malad East, complained to the police that in 2015 he was approached by the Padmavati Maitri Company’s Apurva Paresh Shah and one other unknown individual.
Bhavani informed the police that Shah and his confederate had initiated a redevelopment mission beneath the title of Maitri Gaurav Co-operative Housing Society at Pahadi Village in Malad East. He added that they bought him to speculate ₹11 crore within the mission and promised him 12 flats and a return on his funding.
Bhavani paid the sum on April 12, 2019, however claimed that the accused used the cash for his or her private acquire. A police officer from Dindoshi police mentioned, “The accused failed to complete the construction of the flats promised to Bhavani, and without his consent, they sold some of those flats to others and misappropriated the profit.”
Bhavani complained to the police on Wednesday and based mostly on his statements the police registered a case beneath sections 318 (4) (dishonest), 316 (2) (prison breach of belief), 316 (5) (prison breach of belief by a banker, service provider, issue, dealer, legal professional or agent), 61(2) (prison conspiracy) and three (5) (frequent intention) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita.
Dindoshi police mentioned that they’re scanning the settlement paperwork and the transaction historical past to confirm Bhavani’s allegations, and added that the investigation is being handed to the EOW, a specialised unit beneath the Navi Mumbai police, which investigates monetary crimes.
