Agriculture and animal husbandry minister Chander Kumar stated that the federal government will develop farmers in tribal areas whereas saving ecology and the surroundings.

He was talking throughout a Kisan Mela organised by agriculture and ATMA Mission Lahaul Spiti in Keylong. He stated, “The construction of Rohtang tunnel in Lahaul has brought about a change in the ecosystem. Snowfall has started decreasing. Now a large number of vehicles and tourists are coming here. It has become necessary to control them to save Lahaul.”

Earlier, he laid the muse stone of a chilly storage to be constructed at Dalang in Lahaul Spiti at a value of ₹1 crore. He additionally laid the muse stone of a vegetable market to be in-built Karga. ₹1.21 crore has been sanctioned within the first section for this vegetable market. He stated that ₹2.50 crore shall be given for the vegetable market within the second section.

Applauding the farmers of Lahaul for doing extra pure farming than different areas, the minister stated, “With this, they have created a distinct identity in the entire country. The state government is encouraging farmers to adopt organic farming to reduce the use of chemical fertilisers in agriculture. A separate price is being fixed for the products prepared by organic fertilisers,” he stated. The value of wheat has been mounted at ₹40 and maize at ₹30 per kg. He stated that to advertise pure farming, separate area shall be offered for the sale of greens grown by way of pure farming within the state’s mandis.

MLA Anuradha Rana stated that the farmers right here will profit from the development of chilly storage and vegetable markets.
