Police stated the regulation and order state of affairs had escalated and talks had been being held to defuse the state of affairs.

Officers stated one policeman was injured after being manhandled by the protesters.

Amid slogans of “Bharat Mata ki Jai”, tons of of protesters held a march and sit-in in Katra city, the bottom camp for pilgrims visiting the shrine atop Trikuta hill.

The protesters, who had initially referred to as a 72-hour strike, prolonged it by 24 hours late on Sunday.

The strike referred to as by shopkeepers and pony and palanquin homeowners started on November 22 after the Shri Mata Vaishno Devi Shrine Board introduced plans to proceed with the ₹250-crore ropeway venture between Tarakote Marg and Sanji Chhat alongside the 12-km route.

The shopkeepers and labourers are fearful that the venture, proposed to be accomplished in two years, would render them jobless.

Throughout Monday’s protest, stress escalated when a Central Reserve Police Drive (CRPF) car tried to cross by the city whereas the protesters had been holding the dharna.

Some protesters turned violent, hitting the car and breaking its windshield, the officers stated. The car was moved again with police intervention, prompting clashes throughout which some protesters threw bricks on the cops, they added.

Senior Superintendent of Police (Reasi) Paramvir Singh stated, “The law and order situation has become challenging and we are trying to handle it. Officers are in talks with the protesters to resolve the issue.” The protesters are demanding that the venture be shut down or compensation for all these more likely to be affected.
