Round 10,280 industrial customers throughout Ludhiana have defaulted on their electrical energy payments, collectively owing over ₹40 crore to Punjab State Energy Company Restricted (PSPCL) as of October 2024, unveils an information supplied by PSPCL officers.

When it comes to the variety of defaulters, the west circle leads with 4,761 industrial models, adopted by the east circle with 4,070 defaulters. The Khanna and suburban circles have 822 and 627 industrial defaulters, respectively.

A PSPCL official from the central zone remarked that industrial models are an important income for the company. Nevertheless, the rising pendency of dues is inflicting important monetary pressure on the company, he mentioned.

The official pressured that the delays in funds are severely affecting the ability utility’s operations and collections, particularly at a time coinciding with the height season for key industries of the town like hosiery and textiles which rely closely on uninterrupted service.

Acknowledging this concern, Jagdev Singh Hans, chief engineer of the PSPCL’s central zone, mentioned, “We are making efforts to recover these pending dues without interrupting the power supply to these industries.”

Hans urged industrialists to make the most of the one-time settlement (OTS) scheme to clear their excellent payments with ease and comfort. The scheme will finish on December 22.

In June this yr, the state authorities had hiked the ability tariff to fifteen paise for industries throughout Punjab.
