The inaugural day noticed notable contributors resembling Lt Gen KJS ‘Tiny’ Dhillon (retd), former director common of DIA, together with sarpanches and panchayat members from numerous villages. A gaggle of 100 ladies from the NGO, Sahyog, accompanied the march, carrying placards and elevating slogans advocating for a drug-free Punjab.

Khushwant Singh mentioned, “The message is simple: stay away from drugs. I urged children to take an oath, a solemn pledge, that come what may, they will not consume drugs.” Citing alarming statistics, he added, “Approximately 6.6 million people in Punjab are using drugs, including 700,000 children. This is unacceptable for a state that prides itself on its courage and resilience.”

The stroll will proceed from Hoshiarpur to Jalandhar, concluding on Wednesday, December 13, on the Jang-e-Azadi Museum in Kartarpur.
