The motion, authorized underneath Part 25 (1) of the Illegal Actions (Prevention) Act, 1967 (UAPA), targets properties used for planning and facilitating terrorist actions by the KLF operatives, stated Batala SSP Suhail Qasim Mir.

The case, initially registered underneath IPC Sections 452, 307, 34, and the Arms Act, was later enhanced with fees underneath Sections 16, 17, 18, 18(b), and 20 of the UAPA.

Inderjit Singh Bajwa, a key member of KLF and a recurring offender, was recognized as the first conspirator. Bajwa, in collusion with Ranjodh Singh alias Baba (primarily based in Canada), orchestrated the assault to avenge the loss of life of Hardeep Singh Nijjar in Canada.
