Silchar: Our bodies of a 13-year-old woman who had been lacking since December 24 and a faculty van driver have been discovered within the Brahmaputra river in Guwahati on Friday, police stated.

The woman had allegedly left residence on December 24 night and didn’t return, which prompted her household to file a lacking grievance on the Jalukbari Police Station, an officer stated.
The household accused the driving force of kidnapping their daughter and alleged that he had been sending her inappropriate messages, which she disclosed to them a couple of week earlier. He reportedly stopped sending the messages after the household intervened.
“The family said that CCTV footage shows their daughter walking with the driver,” the officer added.
On Friday, locals found the our bodies of a Class 8 pupil and a driver floating within the river and alerted the police.
A crew from the forensic division and the police arrived on the scene and despatched the our bodies to Gauhati Medical School and Hospital (GMCH) for a postmortem examination.
“The two are believed to have died approximately 48 hours before their bodies were recovered. Family members identified them using their clothing and other personal belongings,” an investigating officer stated.
Requesting a high-level inquiry, the household stated, “We don’t know if he killed her or if a third person was involved. We demand justice.”
Police stated {that a} case has been registered and additional investigation is underway.
