The case pertains to alleged violations of part 6(3)(d) of FEMA, involving transactions value ₹364 crore.
In line with the ED, the violations relate to funds made by Google India to Google Eire as distributor charges and for the acquisition of apparatus from Google US.

The company contended that ₹363 crore, payable to Google Eire, remained unpaid for over 4 years till Could 2014, whereas fee for ₹1 crore value gear sourced from Google US remained unsettled for greater than seven years till January 2014.
The ED categorised these as business loans, which might require prior approval from the Reserve Financial institution of India (RBI).
Google India, nonetheless, contested these allegations, asserting that the transactions in query weren’t international change borrowings.
